Failures Are Rebranded Lessons

How many times have you talked yourself out of something because you were too scared to do it? I've been there too. Fear of failure holds us back from so much in life.

We only think about the negative things that can happen but never consider what would happen if things worked out. What if I became successful because of this? What if I learned a life-changing lesson?

I’ve failed so many times in my life and continue to fail because it's inevitable. It’s helped build my character, taught me lessons, and allowed me to appreciate the wins even more. In my opinion, we fail for two reasons: first, our mindset. We set our minds to the fact that we are going to fail. Second, you were meant to learn a specific lesson in your journey of life.

One of The Many Times I Failed

My audiobook was a flop. My first book audiobook, Reroute: Post Grad Guide To Success- Physically, Mentally, and Financially, was a failure. My initial thought of creating an audiobook came after thinking about catering to different learning styles. It's important for me as an author to support those with disabilities. If they are unable to see well, perhaps an audiobook will be a better alternative. I thought it was going to be a success. I invested $2,000 of my savings to bring this audiobook to life. In retrospect, I shouldn't have paid that much, but that's a topic for another day.

Upon the release, I believed lots of people would get their copy. They didn't. It's been over three years since the release of my audiobook, and it still hasn't done as well as I expected it to, but I don't lose hope. At any moment, my breakthrough can come. The lesson learned through this failure was to market myself and my products better. This allowed me to be more strategic when crafting my second book. For my second book, I shared the process more, and currently, I share my books and nuggets of wisdom from them any chance I get. I can't just expect people to support me just because I think I'm that girl. I'm not a best-selling author yet, but someday I will be. We all have to start somewhere.

Marketing is crucial in many areas of your life, especially when it comes to selling a product. Through this failure, I learned to be more intentional in building relationships as well as to market myself better. I also realized that I didn't have the right mindset. I was moving through the world with a scarcity mindset, and this was not serving me. Since then, I've learned that I am very worthy of achieving high levels of success, and I do not need to operate from a scarcity mindset. There’s enough success to go around.
